Oh it's not worth your expending that much effort.  I was just curious.

I meant when the anime character's face becomes distorted because she is embarrassed or upset and you have to say "gaa" or something like that.  It's your voice, not an engineered sound, and I wondered what the script said.  My first anime series was Samurai Champloo, which had natural looking characters, except for one, and I expanded out into other series (for research) and was fascinated by the facial templates for embarrassment, rage, sorrow, fear, etc.

Petrea, sorry I didn't see your comment before now. You've been and you are so inspiring. Thanks!

Petrea, Just saw your post about The 4 Ms. Bradwells being on the inside cover of the RH catalog. That is lovely to hear (and I had no idea). Thanks!

While hiking, do you carry your camera? What camera do you use...do you go digital or 35mm? I love your portfolio on redbubble and have just tweeted it!

An actress...you've got courage...moxie.  (Love that piece in Lost In Yonkers...the movie...where Richard Dreyfuss explains moxie! Would love to see the play.)

I've also just completed my first novel, Blue Psyche, but have just about decided to publish/market it myself because, from what I hear, you must market your work, anyway. Your Camelot & Vine sounds fascinating! I like your protagonist's name, Casey Clemens - I go by my last name as a nickname. ;^ )

So close -- 2,000 words short. Not a scene or two that could be fleshed out?

Every word and gesture of encouragement help.  The great stigma that has always been attached to how/how well (or how poorly) a soldier readjusts and reintegrates seems to be lessening over the years, but it's still a challenge to ask for, accept and admit that one needs (or may need) help.  I count myself much more fortunate than many others who have gone through deployments, but in all cases, it's nice to know that people like you, whether they served or not, are out there supporting us.  I love your philosophy, "life benefits from a good attitude."  You should Tweet that.  :)

Thank you very much!  It's great to be back.  It was very difficult for me, for a number of reasons.  Not every day was bad, but the bad days were really bad.

My unit was in Afghanistan for a year.  I was there for 11 months and some days.  I'm flushing out some feelings here and there, posting some of my thoughts in blogs and notes, here and on FB and in a journal.  I may one day have the courage to put together a finished work that I'm tentatively calling Monsters Under the Bed.  I'm getting a lot of support and encouragement, so life is getting back to normal, and I believe that once I'm settled, my writing will benefit from the experience.

Oh my goodness, no.  I haven't prepared a query in a while.  I indie-published my first novel last year with a POD publisher, after several months of rejections from a dozen or so agents.  This was long before I'd found She Writes.  Back then, a couple of agents nibbled and requested pages, but their final answer was, "No, thanks."  I got tired of feeling like I was waiting for someone else to tell me I was good enough, I stepped out and did it myself.  Quite a learning experience.

Right now, I'm working on a few other projects, none finished, and planning to venture into the world of self-publishing.  Still in the very early stages there.  Got website.  Got FB and Twitter pages.  Got lots of ideas.  Got a couple of editors lined up.  But no completed works ready for publishing yet.  I just returned from deployment a couple of weeks ago, so I'm still going through my readjustment and reintegration period.  I hope to have some bits to put up on the board soon.  I love the support and feedback that everyone gives here.  Wishing I'd discovered She Writes a few years ago, but it's good to be here now.  :)

I love England, too. But having an English mum seemed too much about control and stiff upper lip, not a bad thing to have, but give me art and French joie de vivre.

Not in Paris, non. But that's where my soul & muse is! I visit there as often as possible. My family on mom's side is from England. Dad's is Norman French. I'm in Oregon. Are we mutts or what? Looking forward to getting to know you better! Love this group.
