Hi Rebecca! Great to see you here! Kate actually recommended this site to me. She's been such a joy to work with. (I just learned that my release date got moved up to August 2. Yikes!)

Congratulations in advance for your upcoming release. I see that you have a lot of momentum going and I'm sure that The Bird Sisters will be a huge success! I can't wait to read it! :)

Keep in touch!

Sam

hi Rebecca! I was googling MFA programs in writing (in the midst of my applications now...) and came across the Penn State blog and followed the link to your piece on HuffPo on your book! Excellent! :)

Thanks again, so much, for all your support. You keep me going. I'm beginning to believe your hype and think this book may actually be published.

My girl and I are both criers. I didn't know you were from that area. I drove her out by myself from Chicago. We had a great time. It's so beautiful. The leaves must be on fire by now. Do you ever get to Chicago?

Thanks for being excited about my memoir. I'm excited, too. And I would love to reach out to you to read it as I go. I know this story so well and I can't wait to get it on the screen.

Good. Crazy. Sleepless. My husband and I are going to visit my daughter at Mt. Holyoke this weekend. I'm hyperbolically excited — it's ridiculous, really. She's never been away from me for this long before, and she'll never be back with me in the same way again. I have also found a writing partner for NaNoWriMo and plan to spit out the first draft of the memoir I alluded to in my Mother Writer essay. Seems like a good way to get going on that project.

Also working on my husband's pet store website and, as a surprise, my sister-in-law and I are working on a POD animal alphabet book to go along with the site launch. I'm pretty excited about it.

How are you?

Just wait till you do get to the teenage years. You have no idea how true all this crap is. Parents competing through their kids and really losing sight of the fact that they have had their chance. It was also inspiring to me, personally, to keep going, try a new path, don't worry about what other people think of me, never too late to learn and all that.

Glad you found it worthy of some blog reading time.

I'm so happy for the warm reception your novel is receiving on its way to publicity launch and publication.

Sounds good. How long do you want the bio? I'm hoping this could be a good way to advertise myself, but I don't want to sound too much like a shameless self-promoter...

How would you like me to send the article?

For your blog, would it work for me to re-publish an article? I used to write a folklore column for the nature journal Whisper in the Woods, and one of the pieces was on the folklore of owls. I thought, Owls, Bird Sisters ... it might be interesting.

Do you know if people in the publishing industry read your blog?
