My mom did work at the Daily News many years back. I'm glad to be a part of She Writes. I've been a member for a while, but just got inspired to get active!
Thank you for such an effusive welcome to this group! My good friend Jennifer Lauck has been talking it up for months now and I can see why she's so over the moon about it. I work as a filmmaker and our biggest complaint is that we work in solitude much of the time and miss community. I'm thrilled to be a part of this one!
Hi Sarah-- thanks for the welcome. I am learning my way around here. Is there a good overview to learn the ropes on the blog somewhere? I appreciate finding this community. I direct a community called She Reads www.shereads.org where we select a new fiction selection per month and promote it to readers of Christian/Inspirational fiction. That's actually how I found out about you because of the similarity in names!
Thanks so much, Sarah, for your welcoming comments. I will tell my cats Jack and T-Bone that you like their picture.
Looking forward to growing with this great group She Writes!

Hi Sarah,
I need help!
I've been a freelance writer/reporter for 24 years and I'm currently looking for paying gigs!
I've a wife and mom who has Crohn's Disease and lives in the Pacific Northwest. I've written on nearly every subject for web sites, newspapers, magazines and newsletters, but I specialize in lifestyle articles, business features, interviews/profiles, book reviews and author interviews, and astrology targeted to specific audiences.
I've written horoscopes for everyone from financial gurus to teenagers and dogs, which has been great fun, but I am currently looking for a place to publish my book lovers horoscopes on a regular basis.
I've tried my local library newsletter and a couple of other email newsletters and a web site, but haven't found a home for the column yet.
Thanks for your help.

PS. I see you're in Brooklyn - not so very far away! (Manhattanites are such snobs!) I actually like Brooklyn, though, have friends in Park Slope, and teach occasionally at Brooklyn College.
Hi Sarah, I'm so pleased to hear from you. I read Ithaka at Jo Ann Miller's recommendation and thought it was so honest and insightfully written - a psychological journey and epistolary courtship. I thought the excerpts of the letters were very effective. Please keep me posted of your writing news, and I'll do the same. And if you're ever in NYC, let me know if you have time for coffee. -Mindy
