Hi, Samantha.  Please don't think I've forgotten about what we've been discussing.  I have spent a lot of time thinking about and looking at your email.  I do want to help you with the group, but I have some questions.  So, I'll reply to your email with my thoughts and questions.  I have you and your husband in my thoughts.  You are very courageous.

Samantha, I'll take any greeting I get!  Thanks for friending me.  I look forward to knowing more about you and sharing writing stories and advice or woes.  I'm working on a novel, my fifth, having published a couple as e books, and I've discovered that I love the writing part, dislike intensely the marketing part, and therefore will never get rich or famous.  But at this point in my life, that isn't my goal anymore, if it ever was. 

Hi, Samantha - thanks so much for the lovely welcome! I'm not only a late bloomer but a slow starter, so forgive me if I'm not too active right away - I like to mosey around and poke my nose in stuff to get a sense of things. I also am working on my time management skills and trying to figure out how to fit in all the important things (it seems there are long phases of only the "urgent" things getting my attention - you know what I mean, I'm sure). :-)

Hi, Samantha.  Thanks for "friending" me.  I look forward to corresponding with you.  I've never run a group before, so I could use some advice to say the least.  I have no idea how it works.  I also want you to know that I appreciate so much that you started this group.  I understand getting caught up in something else, it's very understandable.  But this is your brain-child, so if you would like to, we can be co-group leaders, so that your name stays on it.  I wouldn't expect anything but advice if you have it.  It will be an honor to work with you.

Hi Samantha, thank you so very very much for your wonderful advice! I shall bear it in mind, in fact I think I may use it as the basis of a future blog post, if that's ok? I think I need to do some research into this whole platform business and I definitely need to learn how to use facebook (i'm listed there under Edith Lyons - the older children insisted that I use my maiden name. Apparently its just soooo embaressing to have your mom on facebook!! :-)  As for twitter..... Baby steps...!!! Thanks for explaining why authors and wannabe authors need to keep a blog. You have cleared that up for me, and now I understand that it isn't actually a choice. Throws a whole new light on it all! xxx

Hi Samantha, thank you for your lovely introduction. Goodness this certainly seems to be a vibrant and busy group. Wonderful! It may take me a while to find my way around and especially to learn how to use facebook and twitter. I have been reading a little here and there on how writers use them to raise their web profile but so far am uncertain about whether or not I want to do that. At the moment I am a quiet, invisible writer, apart from my book reviews found online and also more recently in 'Calyx'. Still I am only learning and am realizing that I have so very much to learn and understand. Forinstance I do not have a writing blog, and while part of me would like to figure out how to explore this form of writing, another part is afraid of putting myself 'out there'! I would appreciate it though if you could point me to some resources which might teach me or show me how to begin blogging. Setting up a blog page is relatively easy. Its what to do next and what to write about that perplexes me! Also how doing such is useful to the writer and the development of the writing life. Eg in what ways is writing for a blog different from keeping say a journal, apart that is from visibility? Can you offer reasons why someone like me might choose to maintain a regular blog? Actually this might be a great question to throw out to the group!

Thanks for the nice welcome, Samantha. Sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved dog. We lost our 2 yr old pup to bone cancer in January. It was very hard, but she had a great (if way too short) life and taught us a lot about enjoying TODAY. I'm sorry to hear your husband is going through chemo. Hope he is hanging in there and kicking some cancer butt.

Thanks for starting the BL group. So many great ways to connect. Started liking/following a lot of the lovely ladies here. So many! Will work my way through slowly. Looking forward to getting to know/networking with everyone here.

I'm in the throes of a deadline and your group, Late Bloomers, is apparently a very active one. I may have bitten off more than I can chew at the moment so please forgive me if you don't see me in the group right now, posting, responding, and participating. 

My Facebook isn't readily accessible by a simple search. However, you can access it via the Chico Writers Group page as I'm the page (and group's) founder. 

Ah, the Accurate Auto saga. That was a couple years back. Kathie Writes is my ::cough, cough:: more current blog and I would love for some feedback on the short bits I've written and posted there. That whole ordeal with those swindlers was settled via their warranty maker. Not exactly in the sum I was looking for, but better than what they originally offered. Done, over with, I'm moving on. It's interesting to hear an outside perspective, though, especially with the writing slant put on it. I try to be articulate and am glad to hear I was. Ordinarily I run at the mouth when I'm that upset and not always, so I'm told, cohesively. 

I have three new online critiquers I'm juggling right now which is relatively new to me. They're pushing me to churn out these chapters and keep to my self-imposed deadline. Once I get past this, then you'll most likely see me around.
