Yep, Zetta, I think you're right. But the funny thing is books about slavery or the pre-Civil Rights South (like The Help) often do well...seeming to depend sometimes on the race of the author.

HA! I love it. And it is so true. I think that people may be scared to read black authors because they expect the stories to be depressing and/or full of "tales of oppression," when--believe it or not--we have a sense of humor too!
