Cream of tartar is a by-product of the winemaking process that and is formed during the fermentation of grapes into wine. Often the cream of tartar is used in baking, to stabilize egg whites and to prevent crystallization of sugar syrups in the preparation of icing or frosting.

Here’s something you probably didn't know about cream of tartar. It is a very good household cleaning product. There are many ways to use it, but have a look at the most interesting and useful tips for cleaning with cream of tartar.

Cleaning the Bathtub and the Tiles

For this cleaning trick you should make a mixture of few tablespoons of cream of tartar and peroxide. Add the peroxide to the mixture one drop at a time, until it forms a paste. You can use this homemade product to scrub your bathtub ring, clean stains from your bathroom tiles or from the tub. Reviving Scratched Dishes

If you want to restore your scratched dinnerware easy, choose cream of tartar. just mix it with water and with formed soft paste rub the dishes and rinse with warm water.

Removing Rust Stains

You can make a mixture of one teaspoon of cream of tartar and ¼ cup of baking soda, and add hydrogen peroxide a little before the paste is formed. Now when your cleaner is ready, you can rub the paste on the rust spot. You should let it sit for 30 minutes and after this just clean with a damp sponge.

Cleaning Aluminium Cookware

To brighten up your aluminium cookware, you should mix two tablespoons of cream of tartar and a litre of water in your pan. After this, boil and turn the heat down so the mixture just simmers for ten minutes. This should be enough to clean the not so appropriate inside. If you want to shine the outside, you can sprinkle some Magic Eraser or cream of tartar on a sponge and scour.

For all of these tips your mixture should be a paste. You must use equal parts of liquid and stir the cream of tartar. If your paste seems too thick, you must add more liquid. And in case it is too thin, just add more cream of tartar because exact measurements are not that important. Think of it as making pancakes. It's all about trial and error, until you get the consistency right.
