As I sit tonight with popcorn watching my favorite show "The Tony Awards" my thoughts are with our local publicly funded and highly accredited Roosevelt School of Performing Arts. Over the past 26 years they have produced many talented people in show business to make up artists to graphic designers.
7 time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald is a graduate of our fine school, in the early days I taught some of the dance courses. I hope that America doesn't lose their "Arts in the Schools" programs, its sorely underfunded and sad that American children are losing art, band, choir classes in High Schools throughout the USA.
Support your local arts and remember your local public schools "Art in the Schools Program" 1 such program in the USA allows for children to attend local events. In Central California we dedicate our dress rehearsal of The Nutcracker for children from surrounding towns (mostly migrant farm towns) who have never heard classical music, let alone see a ballet. They are mesmerized.
