Last week I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription and they asked for $1,200.00 to pay for my atypical antipsychotic medication. That afternoon I got on the phone and was led around on a goose chase looking for answers about why my medication costs so much.  

I spent all this Monday morning on the phone and filed an incident with the New York Exchange.  I learned that the insurance had changed it's policy and applied my high deductible to apply to my medication. Something I assure you was prohibited when I signed up.

I called my dad, who is a member of AARP and was aware of how to buy my medication from Canada.  Now, I have to use a Canadian pharmacy, because I can't afford the cost of US pharmacies under obamacare, and my high deductible plan.  The US should require all senators and legislators to be on Obamacare. I mean, get real.  I had to take two days out of my life to deal with this and resorted to buying my drugs from Canada.  That's wrong.  It should be affordable in the US.  Why the HELL do I have to order offshore? The US political advocates should make the healthcare system affordable for all. Including people like me, who work, and pay for our medication, doctors, and insurance out-of-pocket.

I believe that communities were built to pick us back up and put us back on the ladder of life when we fall off.  By that I mean, we should make useful medications that are life saving, affordable.  It is criminal what I learned this week about the cost of the drugs I take, when I can get them in Canada for a fraction of the cost.  "Why," I ask, "is it so expensive in the United States?"  I mean, who has $1,200 a month for meds???  

Except senators and congressmen.  I looked up the networth of the average politician on Wikipedia, and it is criminal what everyone is worth.  This government is in need of reform.  That is why I am writing this.
