A writer colleague recently said (about her book launch) that she realizes her book now has a life of its own--and that it is time to surrender and let it make its way in the world. My official book launch was last Saturday at Book Passage Bookstore in Corte Madera, California. I was thrilled and amazed that over 115 people came to it, and the store manager said the book sales were in the top 5% for author events - even including luminaries such as Al Gore or Jimmy Carter! While that was gratifying, what was most thrilling was that so many wonderful friends, readers, strangers came.  With their support and love, my memoir "The Coconut Latitudes"  is now launched into the world.

So...I too must surrender, and let it find its way to readers on its own merits and power. And the delightful folks who came and bought books at the book launch were part of those who have given wings to my project. I thank them all, and I thank the other readers who will discover it as well.
