Should You Design Your Own Romance Novel Covers?

If you've been reading my romance writing tips, you know that my background is as a non-fiction, how-to business writer. I've written over 50 ebooks did most of my own ebook covers.

When I first started writing romance, I outsourced the covers but recently started to do them myself. Why? Well really it was a time thing. I write and self-publish 2-4 new romance novels per month, and the cover artist I was using was having problems keeping up with my schedule. This messed with my publishing schedule, so I decided to start doing them myself until I can find another cover artist.

I have to say, I'm a bit of a control freak too, so this works to my advantage.

Realize how important covers are to selling your romance novel before you make this decision. With this being said, my advice is -- as long as you can design decent covers, then go for it if you want.
