Today, April 1, 2014, I am taking the challenge--the Camp NaNoWriMo challenge. I have set my goal to write a 30,000 word mystery novel for middle level readers. I am attempting to connect with others who are writers for children, so I have joined the Children's Writers group here on She Writes. I have publicly posted on social media that I am doing this--believing that if I put it out there--in writing--and in black and white for others to see--then I will force myself to do it for real this time.
There have been many times in the past when I tell myself that I am going to do something, and then I get distracted and never follow through. So...after years of reading books about how to write novels and magazine articles about how to refine plot and characters, I am finally going to put my fingers to the keyboard and write. Even if it doesn't always make sense as I am composing it, I am going to work diligently to get the words down and then work on revising at a later date.
