Vanessa Kachadurian on why you should support Indie Films
Contributor

Did you know that most Academy Award winning films are "Indie."  Films like "Rockie" (made for under $1 million) "Hurt Locker" "Descendants"  didn't have the major studio contracted writers, etc., But rather they were sought out by many Academy Award winning or nominated Actors that want to make good films, free of Studio constraints but full of substance.

George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Ben Afleck, etc., are a few of the actors who seek out great work from writers to produce, and sometimes star in.  Having many friends in the movie and film industry from writers, to costume designers and talent agents the time is ripe for raw talent.  Visiting these Indie Film Festivals allows you to reach out to others that can write screen plays and learn more about networking.   Whether your story is about Human Trafficking (True) or the antics of Lawyers trying desperately to etch out a career for themselves in Hollywood (won't happen) Hollywood is interested in your story.
