My field trip to NYC for Book Expo America and the Indie Reader Discovery Awards

I've just left New York after a very hot and very fun two day-visit, including a stop at Book Expo America. In addition to getting to hear author Neil Gaiman speak, a highlight of the event was the announcement of the 2013 Indie Reader Discovery Awards. My recently released travel memoir, Americashire: A Field Guide to a Marriage, won the travel writing category. It was great to receive the award as well as share the excitement with several other indie authors also in attendance to collect their awards, including Tyler Fulks, author of My Prison Without Bars, and Victoria Hopewell, author of Grade A Baby Eggs.
