I wanted to share a photograph that I took yesterday.  It is in my hometown and I took it with my cell phone.  Side note: Need a good camera.  My boyfriend and I went four wheeling through the mountains.  We literally live on a mountain.  Parrott is the name of my town, with so much history behind it, though now since the coal mines were shut down before I was born, the town is much more quite.

We are located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and in Virginia.  The New River runs through my town.  I spent all day there yesterday until evening time and then we went four wheeling.  The New River also has some interesting facts.  I will do a blog post about it.  For one, it is the 2nd oldest river in the world and also it flows upward instead down.  (A post dedicated to that will be next)

For this post, I just wanted to share some of where I grew up and still reside.  This town is a huge part of who I am, so I figured I should share that side.  Growing up here with my grandparents influenced my writing in a huge way.  My grandparents passing has also influenced the way I write.  Now as a 36 year old, mother of two daughters, raising them in the town I chose to stay in, of course make a difference in how I write.

With all this being said, and then seeing a lot more in this post I could touch on, I will go ahead and share the photo.  We were on the top of the mountain.  The photo I took is overlooking the river where I tan.  There is an island out in the river.  While there tanning, there is no way to see around the island.  Now, with the photo, I can see the other side and the town across the river which is McCoy.  Comments are welcomed!  To me the town is beautiful.
