I've posted a new edition of All Art Friday.
Today's spotlights are on the grand opening of the Washington School of Photography and Capitol Arts Network facilities in Rockville, Maryland; the Art21 Translation Project; painter and sculptor Jennie C. Jones's award of the Joyce Alexander Wein Prize from Studio Museum in Harlem; an interactive Website devoted to Marcel Duchamp; Lower East Side Printshop in New York City; and artists Lam Quang and Kestrel Gates, who design and craft beautiful handmade paper lights (video included).
The roundup highlights exhibitions at Duke University's Nasher Museum (photographs from public and private North Carolina collections and a show of multidisciplinary artist Wangechi Mutu; video included); Portland (Oregon) Art Museum (Carrie Mae Weems); Arthur M. Sackler Museum at Harvard (selections from the Norma Jean Calderwood Collection of Islamic Art); Cleveland Museum of Art (the caporali missal, a Renaissance manuscript); and the Menil Collection in Houston, Texas (visionary artist Forrest Bess).
The notable exhibit abroad is the Wellcome Collection exhibition of Japanese outsider art.
