Writing a sales page requires more than just mere text; it’s the perfect combination of quality writing, convincing text, and an of course an offer that no reader should be able to resist. There are certain aspects that you need to concentrate on if you want your sales page to be a successful one and by following these guidelines, you might just see your sales skyrocket in no time.

Tip 1: The Offer

The most important part of any sales page is the actual offer. If you can make an offer that people cannot refuse, you have already reached your goal. The offer is the only thing that can stand on its own – no other part of the sales letter can generate a sale by itself, so make sure that your offer stands out.

Remember, people will buy any product if they believe that they are getting unbelievable value for their money. Make sure that your offer provides value to your customers; whether this is a discounted sale price, free bonuses with a purchase, or a 100% money back guarantee. You have to make it worth their while; otherwise your offer won’t even get a second glimpse. Whatever product or service you sell, make sure it is a great one – it has to be amazing for you to persuade people to buy it. It doesn't have to be unique, but it has to be packed with value.

Tip 2: The Headline

This will make or break your success; it’s the difference between having only one sale and a half percentage conversion rate, versus having a 10% conversion rate and a steady stream of sales. Translated, that means you if you have a striking headline you can easily ramp up your sales with 20% and this can literally be the breakthrough that many business owners dream of.

Not sure how to get the perfect headline? If you don’t have a professional copywriter available, try writing 15 or 20 different headlines and test the market. Monitor the number of visitors landing on your page, vs. the amount of sales they generate. You will immediately see the difference between an ordinary headline and a positively effective, winning one. Copywriters sometimes take days or even weeks to do this, sifting through hundreds of titles until they find the perfect one – it is that important.

Tip 3: The Introduction

Experienced writers will tell you that two of the most effective ways to start an intro paragraph t so ask a question, or tell a story. You can even combine a few stories into one, and have your readers relate. Now that you have them curious enough to read on, grab your chance and get them hooked. Keep in mind that they don’t know you personally, nor do they care to; they have other things on their mind and don’t want to simply read another boring web page so make this count.

Tell a story about someone (or something) that your prospect can relate to. Make sure that your story is true, or that you can substantiate it with facts – you don’t want to sound dishonest or kill your sale in the first few sentences. Asking a question can be a great way to grab someone’s attention, as people will generally want to answer a question if given a chance. For example, “Have you ever thought about how you can make extra money?”

Tip 4: Focus on the Positives

By now you have sparked interest with your readers so you should use this and build on your offer. Tell them why they would want to buy your product or sign up for your service, and how they can benefit from it. Always offer an answer to a question – solve a problem and you are already half way there.

Example: You sell a toaster with 3 different settings.

Benefits: Everyone at the breakfast table can have their toast the way they like it.

You don’t necessarily want just another toaster, but one that can make your toast the way you like it? Yes! That you will go for! Why? Because it makes your life easier, it offers you something that will simplify your life. Use this principle to highlight the benefits that your product or service offer.

Tip 5: Simplify the Reading Process

One of the most important aspects you want to remember is that people want something simple and easy to read. They do not want to scroll through endless pages of text and this is one of the first things that will immediately lose the interest of possible buyers. There are many ways to do this:

  • Break up your paragraphs
  • Use bullet points
  • Add graphics or sound
  • Format your text
  • Use different colors
  • Use subheadings

Tip 6: Call to Action

Don’t be afraid to ask for money. Name your price, offer your product or service and make sure that your readers know why they should buy this and how it can benefit them. Now point them to your buy button and let them complete the sale.

Remember, you can make all sorts of promises to potential buyers, but you need to prove it. Show them that your product or service is simply amazing and something that they cannot afford to miss out on. Give them a few (real) testimonials, recommendations that your product has receive, or market statistics to substantiate your claims.

Tip 7: Remember the PS

As most internet marketers will tell you, don’t forget the PS after the buy button - you can reinforce the sale with guarantees and a quick reiteration of how the product or service will benefit the buyer. You use the PS to bring your sales page to a close, to give people that final though that you’re offering something unique and valuable. And then you let them make up their mind.

With these tips on hand, you can make sure that your next sales page will be a truly successful one, attracting targeted traffic to your site and sending your sales through the roof.
