Writer Moxley Bugg tagged me in the "Next Big Thing" blog tag, so it's my opportunity to answer ten questions about my work in progress.  You can find her answers about her WIP (Work In Progress), "By Any Other Name", here hhttp://moxleybugg.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-next-big-thing-blog-tag.html

The tag began as a promotional blog at SheWrites.com.

Ten Interview Questions for The Next Big Things:

What is the working title of your book?

Dear Oprah

Where did the idea come from for the book?

I was at work when I heard that Oprah final season was starting and my coworkers and I joked that we really needed to start writing her a letter.  I was actually working on a mother/daughter story at the time that I just couldn't find a direction for.  I put the two concepts together of this intense mother/daughter relationship and Oprah and I think it has turned into something great.  Much better than I ever envisioned it!

What genre does your book fall under?

Mainstream Fiction

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

This one is really difficult  - maybe Phylicia Rashad and Condola Rashad  or Eva Amurri and Susan Sarandon.  It would definitely be nice to get actual mother daughter combos like those mentioned above.

What is your one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Everyone needs an outlet and for Jessi Jones her outlet came on everday at 4pm.

Will you book be self-published or represented by an agency?

Too soon to tell

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I wrote the first draft in 30 days during Campnanowrimo.  I am working on the second draft during National Novel Writing Month.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I would say that its a good women's fiction story.  Maybe its like The Care and Handling of Roses with Thorns by Margaret Dilloway and maybe it has touches of humor like The Devil Wears Prada.  Ask me after the final, final draft:)

Who or What inspired you to write this book?

I have been playing with this story in various forms since 2011 - journals, short stories, poems.  It was a story that kept bagging to come out but I could never figure out how to say it until June 2012. My character needed an outlet for venting that turned out to be an unlikely source and once I just stopped thinking and sat down to write - everything flowed and I knew that I was on the right path.

What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?

It really does provide an interesting take on The Oprah Winfrey Show's final season - I mean it touches on about every episode in an interesting way.

I have tagged 5 other writers to share their book info but have only received confirmation from 1 at the moment:

Y.R. Jones

I wanted to get this posted before I went out of town.  Once I get confirmation back I will update.  Also if any other writers would like to be tagged, please message me! Check out the blogs of those I have tagged in a week for their responses!
