I am still new to She Writes and am trying to get a sense of the site and how it works. Yesterday, I posted my first blog post, but it was one that I had taken from my primary blog on Google Blogger. I have decided that instead of copying and pasting the same posts to two different sites, I would like to utilize She Writes as a site for my fiction writing or poetry. I have wanted to write a novel since I was in high school, or maybe even before that, and I have been an avid poet since I was young. Recently, or rather throughout college, I left my poetry behind to be replaced by frequent journal posts. Now I try to write in my journal every day, at least three pages. I was taught this useful exercise my senior year of college in a course I took called Creativity. We used author Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way as our primary textbook. She stresses the importance of taking the time to write a few pages, "morning pages," every day in a journal.

I write constantly and most of my musings are published on my primary blogĀ Kaleidoscope Eyes; however, I would like to use this space to work on my fiction writing. I have never been the greatest at writing short stories, but if I am ever to attempt a novel, I need to begin somewhere. I appreciate any tips that fellow writers may have for me as I continue to navigate and learn more about this site and its writers. I have so many ideas and experiences that I want to put into writing, I just don't know where to start with a storyline, plot, characters, development, etc. Any advice would be helpful! Thank you...
