Is it ok to give out your writing for free? Will I lose any sense in the writing field?

I hope not. Its my only way to better myself and not lose myself in the "self-publishing" field. I do not want to be a self publisher. I just want to see what people think of my writing. But I'm nervous, excited and scared all at the same time.

Thinking will I lose myself.

I hope not. 

My first thriller story went up a few days ago. I was on vacation and was to afraid to tweet it to the world out there. Even though its up for them to see. 

I've realized I have to get over that if I ever want to succeed. I have to accept myself for who I am and what I do for a living... Well here goes nothing.
