When is copying not the sincerest form of flattery? When the copier stands to make millions off someone else's characters! Without so much as an acknowledgment to the author of the original characters!

  • I cannot tell you how perfect this is.   And I totally agree with what Kathy said.  It's POORLY, POORLY written!

The fan fic part & mommy porn parts of this aside for one moment, it's just poorly written.  I only read the sample up on Amazon, but E.L. James should have hired a professional editor and had her manuscript critiqued.  It's obvious that she didn't.   I'm not published yet, but I have to say that I resent people like this who get published while better books and authors languish and get rejected time after time.  I'm not going to knock fan fic as a whole, but if you're going to take a story that you wrote as fan fic, you'd better change more than just the character's names if you want to make it your own original piece of work.  You also better not have your friends edit it because they're not going to tell you what you need to hear.  Fan fic communities are not exactly objective when it comes to critiquing other people's work and I know this from personal experience.  That's part of why I stopped writing it and started writing my own material.
