Last September I had an idea for a character cross my mind - a girl dealing with all the crap that happens in high school who's also discovering that she's a psychic.  I thought about how freaking difficult high school was to begin with, especially freshman year, and then I thought, it would have really put things into perspective if I'd had bigger problems than just boys.  But then I wondered if that would be true.  Regardless, I felt pretty sure that I knew how I'd start that book if I were the one writing it.  And so I wrote it.

Now I'm learning about the publishing industry, gathering feedback, and preparing to let this girl out into the world.  I've found that writing a novel is only the first step.  There will be many more before Katie finds her way into other reader's hearts.  I'm excited and anxious in equal measures.

Here's the synopsis!

KATIE CRANFORD, FRESHMAN
Slogging down the halls of high school is miserable enough as a lowly freshman, but try acting cool with crazy visions flashing before your eyes! When Katie Cranford falls into a string of psychic misadventures, she discovers that having the sight is no magic bullet to escape the hazards of freshman year.

Between her mother’s cringe-worthy comments and her best friend’s moods, Katie’s already in the weeds before the bell rings on the first day of school.  Beneath Chester High’s fluorescent lights she feels about as special as a potato.  When a bewildering vision lands Katie in the principal’s office, she has only her neighbor Brian to confide in as she scrambles for answers about her strange new talents.  But the more she practices using the sight the more her life unravels, shattering friendships and drawing the ire of her nemesis Hilary Russell.  Caught in a web of Hilary’s lies, Katie finds herself suspended and missing her first real date.  With nothing left to lose, Katie resolves to unleash the sight and fight back with every fiber in her freakish being.  After all, what good is being a psychic if you can't suck it up and face the future?
