I'm hosting another writing contest on Suess's Pieces to encourage and build a stronger community of bloggers and writers. It's coming this March, and even if you aren't involved in the event I hope you'll stop by to support the project.

When is the next writing contest on Suess's Pieces?

March 15, 2012 - March 31, 2012

What is the name of the contest?

The Brave Little Blogger Contest. (#BLBC12 on Twitter)

What do I have to do to enter the blogging contest?

After the contest opens, you'll need to write a blog post (750 words or less) on the specified theme. You'll be required to link your entry to the contest page and display an official entry graphic on your post. Help will be available if you need it.

What's the theme?

The theme will be revealed on March 15, 2012 when the contest opens. However, if you're looking for clues to this year's topic, make sure you're on the mailing list for the writing contest newsletter.

Who can participate?

As of 1/17/12, the Brave Little Blogger Contest is open to the U.S. and Canada only. HOWEVER! There is a chance the contest will open to participants worldwide if I get enough qualified judges to volunteer for the event. I'm estimating a need for 6 judges. Right now I have 4. You can apply here, if you're interested in helping out. Read thisfor more details on what the job entails.

What are the Prizes?

Prizes will be awarded to first, second, and third place winners and include $50, $35 and $15 Amazon e-gift cards. Other donated prizes include:

  • Professional Proofing and Copyediting Services
  • Small Business Startup Kit
  • Professional Resume and Cover Letter Services
  • Personal Branding Coaching

More prizes may be added to the list as other prize sponsors come on board. Individuals, blog owners, and businesses can donate prizes here.

How can I advertise during the contest?

You can promote your blog, company, books, products, and services by becoming a sponsor of the Brave Little Blogger Contest. Ad prices range from $7 to $30. Buy now.

Do I have to be a "writer" to participate?

You don't have to call yourself a writer if you don't want to. In fact, most entrants will identify themselves as bloggers. The purpose of this contest is to cultivate a community between participants, sponsors, and judges through writing and blogging.
