My husband and I have our differences, but there's one big thing we share in common - our love for classic sitcoms. It started when we were in our early 20s. While everyone was busy with "Family Ties," "Cheers" and the Cosby family, we tuned into reruns of "The Honeymooners" and "I Love Lucy."

Today, our love for classic comedy TV shows continues. Our favorites:

1. "Leave It to Beaver" (1957-1963)

2. "The Andy Griffith Show" (1960-1968)

3. "The Honeymooners" (1955-1956)

4. "I Love Lucy" (1951 -1957)

5. "The Dick Van Dyke Show" (1961-1966)

Why do we watch these classic sitcoms over and over and over and never get bored? The main reason is the characters. "The best humor ALWAYS comes first from character: fully developed characters with very specific, hopefully quirky traits," says sitcom writer/producer Fred Rubin.

Some of the best in comedy brought my favorite characters to life, such as Lucille Ball, Jackie Gleason and Don Knotts. However, Ken Osmond, who played Eddie Haskell on "Leave it to Beaver," is also one of my favorites.

Many of these classic comedy TV shows are available on stations such as TV Land. Or you can watch them on DVD, Netflix or Amazon Instant Video.

    Hi Regina,

Yep, my husband and I never get bored with these classic comedies!

Lucille Ball was gorgeous and also had impeccable comedic timing.  I've also long had a great fondness for the sitcoms you listed.  Like you, I could watch them over and over and never get bored.  I actually own some of them.
