If you made a resolution to start writing in 2012 – about yourself, your kids, your journey as a mother – SheWrites is offering a special online writing class that will connect you with an inspiring group of women and get you writing.

In September, SheWrites started the first-ever Writing for Moms class where a group of 10 women from across North America got together online to share their stories and learn to become better writers. It was quite an awesome experience. The diversity of voices and experiences was one thing. I learned what it was like to be a blind mother, an adoptive mother, a mother who has survived her husband's tragic death, a mother who struggles with sick children, a mother who is learning to reconcile her previous life as a big-time lawyer with her new life as a stay-at-home mom.

As an instructor, I was moved - often to tears - by the stories and impressed by the quality of writing. Here's what one student said about the classes:
"I can't begin to tell you how much I have enjoyed this class. The reading assignments are excellent, and it would be hard to find a more supportive writing community. But I think that my favorite part of the class is noticing on a weekly basis just how universal the mothering experience is. Circumstances vary, of course, but the same underlying emotions seem to weave through everyone's stories. As a mother, I find it to be both validating and liberating."

Says another SheWrites Writing for Moms student:
"I find that I can't wait for the two weeks to pass between classes because I am so anxious to read what my new friends have written and to receive feedback from them on my own work. I am so grateful to have found this class through SheWrites!"
