I am a huge Natalie Goldberg fan. I know I have posted on Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within (Shambhala Library) and Wild Mind: Living the Writer’s Life several times. I’m too lazy to look but you can either take my word for it or use the search function. Last night, my creative nonfiction teacher brought in Old Friend from Far Away: The Practice of Writing Memoir. This one has been on my wishlist for quite some time. What I didn’t know was that it is a book full of nonfiction prompts. The prompt we did in class was “no thank you.” Write down “no thank you” on a piece of paper and start writing. Each time you pause, write down “no thank you” again. This worked really well for me and I was able to get a good start on my collage that is due in the next few weeks. I ordered the book this morning and can’t wait until it comes.
