Charlie Brown: Oh brother. When are you going to stop believing in
something that isn't true?
Linus: When YOU stop believing in that fat guy in a red suit and the
white beard who goes, "Ho, ho, ho!"
Charlie Brown: We are obviously separated by denominational
differences.
from the Movie: The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, 1966
My favorite season has finally arrived,
the cool nip in the air
blows through my window.
I pull the quilts on my bed up around my neck and snuggle down
trying to get another moment of sleep
before
the dogs decide....
:it's time:
I look out...
darkness is still settled on the horizon,
no sign of Ms. Sunshine quite yet,
Mr. Moon is still beaming,
smiling at me
wishing me a good day....
I breath in...
cool air fills my lungs.
and
i realize once again
how wonderful life is....
I breath out,
smoky breath leaves my body,
dissipates in the air
and
it starts over.
coffee simmers,
day begins....
and
the wonder and mystery
of
the Universe
rises to greet me....
i watch for IT
almost daily
almost constantly
just
like
Linus
watched and believed in the Great Pumpkin...
and when I'm really in tune
with
both myself
and the world...
The Universal Power
comes to me,
greets me,
calls my name in ways
that are not audible to the human ear,
but rather
in ways that strike the cords of my heart in subtle melodic strums that adds music to the symphony of the Universe....
I wait...
wait and watch
for
some kind of evidence
that
"the Great Mystery is Real"
My scientific mind,
often tells me...
"IT is not possible"
my heart...
my human heart that contains the love
of what I call
God...
it beats
and
it's rhythm is my call
....
to IT..
the Mystery of the Universe.
Some days,
when I sit and wait,
sit in the Pumpkin Patch
we call life,
IT arrives...
and
i stand in awe and sometimes faint just like Linus...
the wind blows,
hits my face,
leaves change,
color the world,
crisp sounds of dryness,
cool chill in the air....
and
I wait...
and
wait...
and
wait....
for the
Mystery to Arrive in all Her Glory to surprise me.
so on this cold morning
of October...
my wish for all of us is
that
"the Mystery"
will meet you and surprise you,
regardless of our
denominational and cultural and intellectual differences....
if
you believe....
"the Mystery will come"...
See you in the Pumpkin Patch we call Life.....
Happy day.
hugs and blessings
