Last night I spent the evening with four other women celebrating the full moon on a sailboat on the lake that surrounds the city, as part of my Full Moon Women’s Circle. It was a wonderful, magical night, reminding me of the deep power and sanctity of women-only space.
I first experienced women-only space in my university days when I was part of a Women’s Centre and collective on campus. The Women’s Centre was a place to talk about issues related to birth control, debate about the role of women in different religions, discuss feminist politics, perspectives and philosophies, and form important friendships. During my four years there, it was a place I called home, where I belonged, felt alive, felt free to explore my thoughts, feelings and ideas, and where I felt a deep sense of feminine connection. ...Continue
