Under the lightning moon

Last night I spent the evening with four other women celebrating the full moon on a sailboat on the lake that surrounds the city, as part of my Full Moon Women’s Circle. It was a wonderful, magical night, reminding me of the deep power and sanctity of women-only space.

I first experienced women-only space in my university days when I was part of a Women’s Centre and collective on campus. The Women’s Centre was a place to talk about issues related to birth control, debate about the role of women in different religions, discuss feminist politics, perspectives and philosophies, and form important friendships.
