I was born with the DNA to be a planner. Not just to plan for doctor’s appointments or oil changes but to plan weeks. Days are scheduled by the hour. Nights are sometimes restless with plans of the next day racing through my mind. Yet when I go to Zumba, all I do is mimic the dance moves of the instructor. I may count steps but that’s about it. I let someone else be in control. And it’s a beautiful thing. Besides the physical benefits to exercise, there is a spiritual benefit to learning to let go of control. Even though it is temporary about an hour, it leaves my mind feeling rested. Sure sometimes if I use weights during the class I may be sore later but it’s worth it because my mind took a mini vacation.
