Good Sunday morning. My favorite day of the week. Sunday is new beginnings, strolling to pickup the Sunday paper & leisurely reading it all day long. It's the house filled with good smells in anticipation of the fabulous meal to come. Even though none of these things are happening in my home today, the memories & thoughts sustain me. I'm feeling a little peaked today (think my grandmother was the last person I heard use this word!) so I'm going to do something different & post a poem. Driving home one night through a loud, windy, downpour of rain, thunder & lightning, I was listening to a great independent, local radio station here in the DC area. When I finally got to the dry & quiet comforts of home, I realized the words to this poem were dancing around in my head anxiously waiting to be created: JAZZ Makes me remember I can write. How cool I am, how sweet I smell. How soft my touch, how soft I feel. Just how extraordinary ordinary can be. When I can taste and feel the music, it reminds me to oil my skin with shea butter. Smell of jasmine. Wrap my head in white cloth. Twist my hair round my fingers. Makes me remember how good God really is! (written 5/9/08) Enjoy your Sunday! Peace & Blessings
