BBAW 2010: The Bloggers Behind the Scenes
The third annual Book Blogger Appreciation Week (BBAW) starts today! To kick things off, Florinda (of The 3 R's Blog) would like to introduce the book bloggers who made this year's event happen. This is the third year of Book Blogger Appreciation Week, and it continues to grow and refine its operations. BBAW 2010 was organized and overseen by an Advisory Board of book bloggers who agreed to remove their blogs from award consideration. Since one of the major reasons BBAW is on She Writes is to introduce writers to book bloggers, I thought this group would be a good place to start. This information comes from the Book Blogger Appreciation Week website. Amy Riley - Amy Riley is the founder of Book Blogger Appreciation Week. She blogs at My Friend Amy, a space devoted to talking about books, pop culture arts and their influence on our lives. Amy also writes for The Friendly Book Nook, and is co-founder of the online publicity company Winsome Media Communications. She believes that the power of the written word can change lives and that literacy is a right for all. Her book blog gives special attention to Christian and young-adult fiction. Ann Kingman - Ann Kingman is the co-publisher of Books on the Nightstand, a blog and weekly audio podcast offering conversation about books and reading. She loves to read books in just about any category, but her favorites are literary fiction, short stories, mysteries, and dark novels set in dystopic worlds. Ann loves to talk about all things books and writing, and she does it professionally: Ann has worked in the publishing industry for more than 20 years, and currently works for Random House, Inc. Candace - Candace is a full-time freelance book editor whose clients include both major publishing firms and prominent independent companies. She just can't seem to get away from books, and her blog Beth Fish Reads reflects her eclectic reading tastes. She's reviewed books, both on her blog and professionally, in a range of genres from adult nonfiction to middle reader fantasy to classics. Candace enjoys interacting with authors on both sides of the manuscript and includes author interviews and guest posts on Beth Fish Reads. She has hosted spotlights and reading challenges devoted to specific publisher imprints - her current focus is Harper Perennial - and devotes special attention to local (Pennsylvania) authors. Dawn Rennert - Dawn is an avid reader who is especially fond of social history, personal memoir and literary fiction, but dabbles in other genres as well, including children's literature; she has four children, ages 5-14. She starting blogging at She Is Too Fond of Books in May 2008. Dawn also hosts a Spotlight on Bookstores feature on her blog which welcomes guest posts from authors and others who'd like to share their favorite independent bookshops. Kate (KB) - KB is a self-proclaimed eccentric reader who reads on average twenty books a month. KB is proud to admit that she is a present day bluestocking with her head always in a book. KB, also known better as Katiebabson-line, has been an active part of the blogging community since early 2007 and reviews for multiple sites. She runs her own blog called Babbling about Books and More! which has been live since September 2008 and primarily focuses on romance fiction. Nicole Bonia - Nicole writes the book blog Linus's Blanket. She is a co-founder of Winsome Media Communications and co-host of the podcast The Underground Literary Society. An active member of the book blogging community, Nicole also hosts the weekly Blog Talk Radio show "That’s How I Blog!", featuring in-depth discussion with bloggers who share a passion for books, with candid conversations on favorite books & reading habits, bookish topics, and recent book and blogging trends and practices. Jennifer Conner --Jennifer is the blogger behind The Literate Housewife Review. She is a 30-something wife and mother living in Southwest Virginia. Jennifer has loved to read since she first earned her apple on the sight words tree in the first grade. She has been blogging about books and reading since January of 2007, featuring a mix of genres with a concentration on literary and historical fiction. Please visit these bloggers at their online homes and get to know them better! -Florinda/The 3 R's Blog www.3rsblog.com for Book Blogger Appreciation Week
