Name our New Monthly Twitter Party and Win a Shirt!
Contributor
Deborah Siegel announces...oh wait, it needs a name. I'm not writing writing (whoops, again) this Friday, but I AM posting to tell ya'll about an online event series we have in store! Last month, She Writes member Kathy Jordan, author of the just-launched Becoming a Life Change Artist: 7 Creative Skills to Reinvent Yourself at Any Stage of Life, came to us with a FABULOUS idea. "I have a relative who comes from a very large family," Kathy wrote. "Instead of celebrating individual birthdays, the family meets each month to celebrate birthdays of all family members with birthdays that fall in that month. Why couldn’t we do an online version of that to celebrate the 'birth' of our members’ books?" Genius, we thought. And hence, you are all invited to the first-ever She Writes group launch party on the evening of August 24, via Twitter! More details coming soon, but here are some basics: During each She Writes monthly launch party, you’ll have a chance to... o virtually meet the authors and learn a little about their newly published book o ask questions of the people who have published books o share your pithy party humor o join us in a virtual toast to this month’s people who published o get more familiar with one way to use Twitter – a Twitter party is not as scary as it sounds! Next week, look for details about how it's all going to work. But in the meantime, since it's Friday, and time to squeeze out a little creativity (if not actual writing!), I invite you all to brainstorm with me as we name this monthly affair. What shall we name this puppy? Here are a few suggestions to get juices flowing: She Writers' Aug. Launch Party August She Launches She Writes August Tweet Up Pub Date Buffet (ok, I'm stretching here; see? we need your help) Please share any suggestions in comments. If we end up going with yours, you win a limited edition SW t-shirt. Suggest away!

"Twitter Tweet Salon" or "Twitter & Tweet Salon"

This reminds me of several online "writers' salons" I've attended. They're a lot of fun.
I'm a member of TweetSpeak Poetry (TweetSpeakPoetry.com), if anyone wants to see what can be done with Twitter. We're having a poetry jam tonight; the topic is tea.

Hi Chandra, just sent you a friend message. How exciting about your new book! You do need to be on Twitter for the Launch Party. I so understand your feelings about Twitter. You are not the only one! That was me a year ago. But if you're free on the evening of Aug 24th (your pub date no less!) it would be great to have you there! As host, I will be helping all the authors get set up to participate, since many people are not familiar with Twitter parties. But they are really easy and fun. No matter what, we will be celebrating you and your novel!

Do you have to have a Twitter account to be included? I am so scared of Twitter, but I have a book coming out on August 24th. I might actually even have a twitter account. I'm not sure.

Oh my gosh - just signed on and am catching up on all these fun suggestions!!! Stay tuned...We shall announce the name...SOON.

Hi all--I'm the lucky person who will be hosting our new monthly Twitter Launch Parties. I love all your great ideas for what to call them! Whatever name gets chosen, remember that our hashtag (#) ideally needs to be short, say 4 or 5 letters, because the hashtag is included in the 140 character limit for each Twitter message. The longer the hashtag, the less you can say in a tweet. So keep your creative juices flowing, and we'll figure out a way to make a good #acronym based on your suggestions. Can't wait to see you on the 24th!

I like ShePublishes -- you could use it as a hashtag too. #ShePublishes I would suggest it be for any kind of publishing, not just books, articles too.

    Congrats to Lissa!

Love the SWeets Thing! SWeet Celebration!

How about She Launches? What a great idea! I have one book that launched August 10 and another that launches Sept 28, so count me in!
