I saw a review of "The Recessionistas" by Alexandra Lebanthal on a blog I like, called Head Butler. The head-butler himself, a kind of cultural-concierge, is a fellow named Jesse Kornbluth, a man with some v serious literary creds. And, at least in print, I’d found him to be smart and fair - which is very much a part of the point, because one of his first lines in the review “it is painful to open a book labeled Chick-Lit” was startling, but knowing him, so clearly well intended. So – I wrote a reader response to Head Butler about my frustration with the labeling of books like Lebanthal’s and mine, "The Season of Second Chances." And he asked me if I would expand my note to become a guest article on his site – for the very next day. I agreed, and did so. The next morning he liked it enough to ask if he might send it on to his Huff Post editor with the recommendation that they consider posting it themselves. They did – and here we are:
