See him dancing there
A modern one among the unseen ancients
She is there, nearly forgotten
But not on the sidelines
For she is above
Watching
Like all good mothers
Merely waiting for the day of recognition
When her children return to her
Tears in their eyes
Remorse in their hearts for all the hurtful things said
And done in ignorance
She watches him dance
With a smile
And a hint of something else behind her eye
But she will never forsake her child
No matter how far astray he wonders
