Blank Doll

If everything's being killed from the inside out I remain the only outsides I have learned to keep smiling. Blank Doll. Rosy cheeks, night-wishing eyes. Eyelashes and pleasant raspberry lips. Change my dress, my place, my time undress me til you see the empty space inside. matte plastic. soft and thick she's not original. she's just pretty. she sits on the windowsill overlooking the neighborhood children looking up at her smiling. She's not smiling back. Her raspberry lips just grinning at what's in front of her. That's what they love about her. They can play any way they like and at the end of the day her face exumes a rose-warmed sight. When she is old she doesn't look it. She is just pretty. Never original. Never special--just pleasant. Smiles for a time of laughter, learning and growth. Holding her close when the going gets rough. She is usually passed on. Now she is getting dusty. Dusty on the windowsill-- collecting old memory of her continuum.
