Another busy week of great events by SheWrites members. Here’s what’s in store: New York City The Freerange Nonfiction Reading Series, will be hosted by Mira Ptacin, and will feature Roseanne Reed-Motti, Emily, Seilbert, Doglas Rogers, and Nicholas Dawidoff. September 9, 6pm, downstairs at the Cornelia Street Cafe. Amy Sohn will be reading from her new novel Prospect Park West, and will also be participating in a Q and A and book signing. September 9 from 7 to 8:30pm at Barnes & Noble Tribeca. Barnes & Noble Park Slope will be hosting a reading and signing of Yona Zeldis McDonough’s book Breaking the Bank on September 9 at 7:30pm. She’ll also be signing copies at the Brooklyn Book Festival on September 13 at 10am. The Gastronomy of Marriage: A Memoir of Food and Love by Michelle Maistro will be showcased in an event by Word Books in Brooklyn from 7:30-9:30pm on September 9. The Nightingale Lounge will be hosting a poetry reading of Spire Press authors, including SW member Ann E. Michael. September 10, 7-9pm. The Omega Institute is hosting a two day workshop entitled Women & Power: Connecting Across the Generations. More info and registration available on Eomega.org. Mindy Greenstein and Janice Eidus will read essays from DIRT: The Quirks, Habits, and Passions of Keeping House at the Fort Washington Library on September 12 from 3-4pm. The book will also kick off the Sunday Best Reading Series at The Lounge at Hudson View Gardens on September 13 at 4pm with readings by Ann Hood, Laura Shaine Cunningham, and Kathleen Crisci. To honor the birthday of Planned Parenthood's founder Margaret Sanger, Gloria Feldt, author of The War on Choice and former President of Planned Parenthood Federation of America, discusses Sanger's life and work, the history of the birth-control movement, the role that birth control plays in women's equality and empowerment, and what activists today can learn about leadership from Sanger's organizing. On September 13 from 2-4 pm at the Brooklyn Museum. Beaverton, OR Minnette Meador will be signing copies of her various books at Powells Books in Beaverton on September 10 at 7pm. Wilmington, NC Georgia Ann Mullen will sign books and talk about A Shocking & Unnatural Incident, her historical novel about the First Woman's Rights Convention in Seneca Falls, NY in 1848. September 10 from 7-8pm at Pomegranate Books. Manchester Center, VT Judith D. Schwartz will be reading from her new book, The Therapist's New Clothes, at Northshire Bookstore on September 10 from 7-9pm. Corte Madera, CA Tanya Egan Gibson will be signing copies of her book How to Buy a Love of Reading at the Barnes & Noble at Corte Madera Town Center on September 12 at 2:30pm. Oakland, CA If you’ve been looking to attend a blogging workshop, Susan Ito is hosting one in her home on September 13 from 10am-4pm. Chatham, NJ Cafe Beethoven is hosting a book signing and poetry reading from Juanita Kirton’s latest book, Inner Journey on September 13 at 2pm.
