Yes, we are writers, and our newest feature title ends in a proposition. Artistic license?! We could debate it, but instead, allow me to introduce you to the amazing Linda Lowen, who has graciously penned our first "MY FAVORITE BOOK" post. We'll be looking for more SheWriters to contribute to this feature in the future, so if you'd like to contribute, please shoot me a note here at SheWrites!
And now, about Linda: As author of the About.com Guide to Women's Issues, Linda Lowen covers a wide variety of topics that impact women's lives, examining women's issues from politics to pop culture. She is a 2009 recipient of the Exceptional Merit in Media Award (EMMA) from the National Women's Political Caucus for her article on gender biased media coverage of 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. A former radio/TV broadcast journalist, she was twice honored by Women in Communications with the Clarion Award for Best Women's Issues Programming. During her broadcast career she created, produced, and hosted women's issues radio and television programs for NPR and PBS station affiliates including the award-winning talk show Women's Voices. She's been featured in the New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and on NPR's Talk of the Nation. Lowen is also a member of the Women's Media Center Progressive Women's Voices program and the National Cancer Survivor's Day Speaker's Bureau. She is a long-term survivor of ovarian cancer. Her greatest achievement has been raising two teenage daughters who unhesitatingly identify themselves as feminists -- much to their mother's delight.
And we're thrilled to feature her post here...coming next!
