Hello! My name is Wendy, and I'm a writer. (This is turning into some sort of support group meeting.) I'm a freelance journalist and graphic designer based in Tampa, FL. I joined this site because it fell into my lap at exactly the right time. You see, I just finished a novel. (Cue fanfare.) I'm working on revisions right now, but in a week or two, I'll be ready to send that sucker out into the world and see if it sticks anywhere. I figure that since I'm about to embark on the wild ride of trying to get a novel published, I should have some sort of support group in place. That's where you guys fit in! If you want to be my support and help foster a fledgling novelist, than by all means, friend me. I'll try to support you in whatever you do. My background: I have had one short story and multiple news and feature articles published. My work has appeared in the St. Petersburg Times, The Tampa Tribune, Creative Loafing, Tampa Bay Arts Network, 411 Magazine, Tampa Bay Illustrated, Mookychick, and a bunch of other online and print newspapers and magazines. My design work has appeared in catalogs, Cruise Travel Magazine, and Video Librarian Magazine. It would be really nice to have a stable job, but I graduated at the wrong time to join the newspaper and magazine industries. It's a little disheartening to watch thousands of people in your chosen profession (especially when it involves a number of your heroes) lose their jobs right when you want to apply. So, if anyone's looking for a writer, editor, copy editor, or slush pile reader to join their org, let me know. It would fulfill my dream of being able to support myself through my chosen field instead of struggling to make ends meet with a variety of part time jobs. I specialize in features and arts writing, and I love writing about LGBT issues, tech stuff, gaming, books, movies, TV, goth subculture, and a bunch of other stuff, so whether you want to talk about interests, the craft of writing, or just get something off your chest, I'm here.
