It may seem strange to muse on inventory theory when looking for a metaphor to use in praise of SHEWRITES, but today as I rode around the City on my bike, JUST IN TIME, was all I could think. After the Second World War Toyota came to great prominence by adapting an inventory system called Just in TIme ( JIT) rather than the more ubiquitous system, known as Just in Case (JIC). JIC means you buy every widget and fender that you might ever need and you hoard it as inventory. While JIT means you order things as they are needed and you believe they will arrive, just in time. This site, this gaggle of writers, thinkers and innovators has come to me, Just In TIme and I bet the same holds true for many others. It is a time when publishing is being shaken and stirred and hence the perfect moment to reinvent the paradigm. SheWrites and the correlative, SheReads bursts onto the scene just in time to remind us all that there is deeply held value in words and the hands that write them and turn the pages whether those pages are virtual or parchment. In a time of recession it is imperative for all of us to know that our abundance radiates from our ideas, our circle of friends who share wisdom and the firm stance that Just in Time will win the day. Here's to She Writes and all who read.
