I make myself a hot drink and sit in front of the computer ready to get back into my latest manuscript…

“He slid his hand under her skirts, his fingers searching for the milky white silkiness of her thigh, his lips caressing the soft skin of her throat.  He wanted to…”

Suddenly behind me is a loud sound of footsteps stomping towards my bedroom.

“Mummy, the baby stole my dollhouse thingy!” shouts my five year old.

This is the glamourous life as a historical erotic romance author.

No?

Guess again…

My pen name is Faye Hall, and I am an internationally published author with Red Sage Publishing with my third and fourth book coming out back to back this year.  But at home here in North Queensland I’m just me.

I married the love of my life in 2013 and between us we have 9 children – 8 of those in the schooling system and our youngest is almost 3 years old so is currently trying to deconstruct our house.  I do school runs, parent teacher interviews, blah blah blah.

But yes, somewhere in between all of the wonderful chaos that is my life, and with the loving support of my fantastic husband, I have jumped on the ever challenging bumpy road of being an author.

The first question most people ask me is “What is your writing routine?”  Quite simply I don’t have one, nor can I afford to try and have one.  I write when and if I can; sometimes that means 2000-3000 words a day, sometimes I only manage 20 words.  I am guilty of indulging in my iPhone apps and jotting down notes or dialogue whilst I sit up at the school waiting for my children to come out.  I have also been known to jot down a page of dialogue standing at my computer desk whilst finishing cooking tea for my hungry brood and trying to answer homework questions for my 9 year old daughter and listening to tales of ‘Five nights at Freddy’s’ that my 11 year old feels he needs to share with me.

Am I superwoman?  Far from it!

I have a very, very supportive husband who, even though he works shift work and most weekends, gives me a break when and if he can, including cooking tea or doing a load of washing.  My children are all very excited that their mummy is a published author too (though I tend not to explain exactly what I write other than ‘love stories’).

Would my life be simpler if I chose to put my writing career on hold until the children were all grown up?

Probably,but…

I would be missing something in my life if I didn’t write.  I have at least 100 unfinished stories on my computer that I hope to finish over the next few years and have published.  I hope out of those manuscripts I can get at least one best seller and that Faye Hall will be close to a household name.

But until that happens I will keep writing; I will raise my children; and I will love my husband for all the support he gives me whilst I take on this adventure of becoming a well known author.
