Marketing a book isn’t easy. The competition is enormous and traditional marketing channels are expensive. Hence, if your budget is tight, you should focus on online marketing. My proposed solutions are social media promotion and writing a blog. Despite low guarantee that the efforts will lead to sales, if done properly and with the use of correct content, the results may be way better than expected.

1.    Social Media Is Key

Social media such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram are nowadays more important than ever. Instagram, for instance, has an enormous number of daily active users. A big percentage of them is reported to spend a part of their disposable income on clothes, entertainment objects, cosmetics online and often are redirected to the sales websites via Instagram.

Moreover, the app offers a free access to all necessary analytics such as the reach of the target audience. With such a big pool of potential readers and insight on how they can be reached, it is almost a crime not to use this app.

2.    Have A Blog

Having a blog is providing a sample of your writing to the potential reader. It’s sort of like a free face cream sample. People want to see if they enjoy it before committing to reading (and buying) and whole novel (or face cream box). Moreover, it provides more content to your website than just your author’s biography, previously published works and links to sale pages.

Despite that, the more content there is on your website, the more keywords you will rank for on Google. It is a long-term and hard search engine optimization work to rank within the first ten Google results so start as soon as you can to slowly increase your ranking numbers. Naturally, the higher you are on Google, the more traffic comes to your website and, eventually, your conversion rates will also increase.
