How to Create a Playlist on YouTube
Contributor

Last year I wrote a blog post about listening to music while writing. How listening to music while we write helps us immerse ourselves into our stories. Especially in regards to musicians and composers for a particular genre mood music. So today’s post is the next step, creating our own personal playlists.

If you already have an account on YouTube, go to https://studio.youtube.com/. It’ll bring you to a page showing your channel analytics. On the left hand side, scroll down to ‘other features’ and click on ‘Playlists.’

I currently have eight playlists on my channel, two of which are writing playlists. For today’s post, I’ll be creating a new playlist for my adult holiday romance novellas story idea. To show how to add videos to your playlist.

Now that you’re on the playlist page, first to create a playlist, click on ‘new playlist’ at the top of the page. Type in your title. You can name if after the story you’re writing or whatever name you’d like to use. Decide if you want it to remain public or make it unlisted or private. Then click on create.

It will take you to this page. Notice that you have no videos in this playlist yet. That’s about to change.

Click on edit. Add a description for your playlist. And set up your playlist settings to your preference (I left it alone for now). For my description, I wrote:

Three friends whose parent are best friends were given unique names. Names inspired by the holiday/month they were born in. Then happen to fall in love and find their happily ever afters in those same holiday/month.

After writing your description and setting up your playlist preference click ‘add videos.’ A pop up will appear on your screen. And give you three options: Video search, URL and Your YouTube videos. Using ‘video search’ will give you a listing of videos based on what you’ve type in the search bar. ‘Your YouTube videos’ will search through your videos you already have on your channel. My first video, I’ve already pinned to my Holidaze Pinterest board, so I’ll use the second option. And paste my YouTube URL.

Click on ‘add video’ and repeat. It’s that easy.

Are you interested in creating your own playlist? What videos would you add for your story writing playlist?
