She had fire in her mouth,

fire in her stomach,

but she had water on her lips 

and her words turned to steam before our eyes--

just enough to fog our glasses and mirrors,

but never enough to set the blaze she wanted.


She was trapped, fire eating away at her,

until it consumed her,

until she turned herself into the blaze she wanted.

Before them, she turned to ash,

to be trampled like the dust of the earth.
