This month we are thrilled to welcome our last guest editor of 2019: Bridget Heos. She also has the distinction of being our first guest editor who is a children's book author. Welcome Bridget! This month we will be getting to know Bridget and her most recently released book A Mustache Baby Christmas. So stick around to learn more about her career as a successful children's book author and be sure to pick up any of the Mustache Baby books for the little ones on your list.

About Bridget

Bridget Heos grew up in a family that told lots of stories. Her family also supported her creative endeavors. For instance, her parents let her put on big plays in their backyard, which was her first paid writing job.

Fast-forwarding to adulthood, Bridget became a social worker and teacher, but soon transitioned into freelance writing for local newspapers, magazines, and businesses. Finally, her son’s love of nonfiction books, particularly ones about turtles, led to her dream job. She wondered, “Who writes all these turtle books?” A little research revealed that it was ordinary writers like her.

Through a children’s writing group, Bridget connected with an editor seeking writers for hire. Her first assignment was to write a middle grade biography of the rapper Jay-Z. Since then, she has written around 100 nonfiction books for children, mostly about science.

For a long time, Bridget didn’t think she had a big enough imagination to write fiction. To remedy that, she read 100 well-loved picture books one Summer. That Fall, she got the idea for Mustache Baby. She has since written a handful of picture books, and still writes nonfiction

She lives with her husband, three sons, one daughter, and a cat in Kansas City, Missouri.

About A Mustache Baby Christmas

Mustache Baby is headed straight for the naughty list until he figures out it is much more fun to give than to receive in this hilarious holiday gift book.

Billy is an unusual baby—he was born with a mustache! And his pal Javier was born with a beard. Things get even sillier on Christmas Eve when Javier’s beard turns white and he becomes Santa Baby! Being Santa Baby is a lot of work—listening to the other babies’ Christmas wishes, taste testing treats, and getting the dachshunds, ahem, reindeer, ready for their big night. Luckily, Mustache Baby, AKA Elf Baby, shows up in the St. Nick of time to help make the toys. But when he finishes, he decides to keep them all for himself! Hijinks ensue, landing Mustache Baby firmly on the naughty list. That is until a visit from Santa Grownup reminds him that it is much more fun to give than to receive. The perfect holiday gift for any family with a mustachioed or bearded dad.
