As I plod along in my memoir, which is about being in Paris during Charlie Hebdo and taking care of my Mom for 4 months, another terrorist attack happens there and I put the skids on my book. I look at what I have so far. Do I need to add, (dear God I hope not) subtract, (but what?) or just leave it as is? (or avoid it altogether by accepting other writing assignments)

So I wrote an essay on sexism in standup comedy for VProudTV. Short, 500+ words. I sent along two pictures, which they asked for, and went back to avoiding my book. (expert at this, btw)

Today it went live. Only with my sister's picture instead of mine. After I pointed it out, they hustled to find a picture of me off Google Images but in the interim I thought it was pretty funny that they'd done this. And there was a picture of me at the bottom of the essay, so do we really need to see me twice? So I told them to leaves hers in the article.

If you want to know what you'd look like after having a face lift, lay (lie)(I hate this word so much)on your back and hold a mirror up to your face. That's what you'll look like. And one day when my sister Lindy and I were doing this, I took a picture of her and that's the one they used for the article! I have no idea where they got it. Which makes it even funnier.

You're too funny. I did Nano last year, finished, was going to edit but had to go overseas for 4 months & couldn't figure out how to put my thumb drive (with finished book) in my Mom's mac AND HAVEN'T LOOKED AT IT SINCE! P.S. My apartment is a mess. When I write I just don't care about anything else. (at least that's what I tell myself) Going to look at nano website. xo

I found you, I found the Vent forum, I'm in love! Thank you. PS: Your word count is damn impressive. Pretend mine doesn't exist. 'Cuz it almost doesn't. Did I mention though, how far ahead I am on my other projects? Oh, and my house is clean...

Putting procrastination to work for me, that's my silver lining!

Laura, I'm doing Nano too! Follow me at SSoro and I'll follow you back. I just found the VENT thread on their website where you can bitch and whine and complain to your heart's content and it is MAGICALLY FABULOUS. Birds of a feather, girl, birds of a feather...xo

Congrats on your piece! Oh, and I am an expert at avoiding writing. I decided to do NaNoWriMo this year to jumpstart a new project and I have gotten SO MUCH ACCOMPLISHED... only not on the book! But wow, the things I am willing to tackle just to keep from writing...
