I've asked before, and thought maybe I needed to ask in a different section.  But, does anybody have any idea if writing a romance from a male point of view, first person, is something doable?  Desirable?

This actually came up on another forum I belong to recently and not only is it more common than we think, it seems to be quite desirable and fun to read...

ha ah Ivana!  DO SHOW OFF!  I'm the type of person that sees the problem in the solution, if you know what I mean.  I'm sloooooooooow a lot of times.  And naive.  I'm still hurt from finding out people in the government are crooked.  You nailed it good.

A man cursed with a demon of lust uses his psychic ability to quarantine both the demon and his own heart in order not to get in a situation to hurt some innocent woman, but then he meets a powerful young woman with an ability to bypass his shields, falls in love with her, and thus puts her life and her soul at jeopardy.

How's that for an one-sentence description? Not trying to show off, I was just curious if I could do it. :)

Sounds interesting so far, and I'm sure many women would love to read about a man battling his lust demon.

LOL Ivana.  I've been told I'm a sheltered reader when it comes to thinking: surely people wouldn't be stupid enough to write this or that.  Wrooooong.  Well, I'll tell you in a few sentences what my story is about, which is about my male MC.

He's been cursed to carry the demon of lust and he uses his psychic ability to quarnatine the demon inside him as well as shield his heart from developing emotional connections with women.  Until he meets the sweet, but powerful Chinese girl named Sheeku who has the ability to bypass his shields, causing him to fall in love for the first time.  He ends up marrying her to protect her from an abusive fiance, telling her it has to be temporary and platonic.  But the every day he's with her, her power reduces his, and soon, the man he's denied in celibacy can't resist her, which puts her soul in jeopordy with his demon.  It's got a lot of Kung fu fighting and an epic demon battle too.  Oh yeah, she has a demon too.

So I totally suck at two sentence descriptions.

    What's wrong with promoting? :)

As to what would be bad, well, Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse books) comes to mind: a guy who is about to have sex with a pretty blonde (not drop dead gorgeous, but pretty) is thinking about her having a big bottom. It's really hard to believe that that's what a guy would think in such a situation. :)

awesome, so far so good.  Seems like there's a real audience so far, for this type of read.  Like Valerie said, depending on how it's handled.  Which makes me HAVE to wonder...what would be good and what would be bad.  I imagine an "a" hole for a character would be out of the question. I want to give two sentences for the premise of my story just to get opinions but I'm not sure if that would be...out of line?  I hate that is seems like promoting, but I honestly don't know how else to find out if what I have, works.  I'm aware that I would need to know how to write in a way that is believable for a male character, and that my male character would need to have enough voice to capture a reader and a story worth hearing.

I think many women would love to read that.

I agree. It depends on how it is handled.  It would be interesting.

thanks for that.  I always have the tendency to think all women want the same thing.  We all want to experience what a man feels when he's falling in love.  Even more from a dark character whose a cast away due to circumstances beyond his control.  I would be specific, but I don't want to seem like I'm using this as an opporutnity to promote.  Anyway, thanks for that again.  It just helps to know what other people are thinking.

I think the sky's the limit.  Women are always wondering what's going on inside of of man's mind.  Drives us bonkers sometimes.  I know when writing in my male character's voice I try to get inside of the men I know, and say to myself ... He would say this.. or act like this... Other times, I just ask my 'em.   I don't always get the deepest of answers.  I think Beyonce tried to do this with her song, 'If I Were A Boy,'  It was a smashing hit, and women love it.. So I'd say, fantasic idea.
