Our mayor has set up the Sendai Relief Fund--100% of the donations will go directly to the city of Sendai, one of the areas most devastated by the earthquake and tsunami. I am helping to organize a concert of women's spoken word, music and dance that will benefit the fund on the 26th--sisterhood helping our sister city. working with the Jewish Community of Japan to distribute emergency supplies to the hardest-hit Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures through JEN, a Japanese NGO.
providing a critically needed water shipment and other emergency relief supplies through JDC’s partner Afya Foundation and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Japan's aid and development arm.
funding food and water bottle distribution in Sendai.

I posted "A thousand million trillion cranes" to my blog Endless Knots last night.

I'm not sure if anyone wants to do this or not but when Nashville had that nasty flodding last summer, the women over at Do the Write thing for Nashville held an auction to benefit the relief effort. They had a whole lot of authors, agents, and people from the publishing industry in general donate anything from a query critique to signed arcs/books to phone calls to dinners with their favorite authors! They made a good chunk of change to send to Nashville and it might be something amazing to benefit Japan as well.
