Lately, I have really been trying to be mindful, and have a mind-body connection because I feel disconnected inside. Logically I know stress can kill, but I put so much of myself into others, most days I often run on empty.
I repeat the mantra, “I have to take care of myself first, or I can’t take care of my family.” But, somehow I still feel as if I am holding the short end of the stick. Guilt overtakes me when I get a pedicure. Many days, I’ve run a proverbial marathon before 6:50a, and as the girls get on the bus, I am left in a quivering puddle of nervous stress.

They did talk about Jon Kabat-Zinn at a meditation lecture I attended. Of course, I made a comment on how lucky he was to have the last name Zinn, The instructor apparently didn't get my joke.
Thanks for the link to your blog. I will check it out.
Hi Lanita, I know exactly what you're talking about and have been on a similar journey myself. I just wrote about a mindfulness meditation program that I'm in right now on my blog: http://thespiritthatmovesme.blogspot.com/ Have you heard of Jon Kabat-Zinn? His meditation programs are available on CDs pretty much anywhere.
Remember, it's like saying, "Do as I say, not as I do." After a week at a spa, I am a bit massaged out, but I'm all about trying to meditate. Feeling very Zen these days.
Today I indulged in a massage! I needed it to combat stress, to help me be a better mother and to weather the emotional storm that is forcasted this week. Unless we take a moment to take care for ourselves - we are no good to others! Don't feel guilty - in fact, think of it like a wellness exam or a mammogram - preventative medicine. Trust me - a little time out from giving and giving and giving is important to prevent complete insanity and frazzled nerves. However, if my mother were to read this reply she would chuckle as I am ways behind the eight ball when it comes to doing something for me, but I hear it over and over and I am striving to be more attentive to the need for "me moments."
Tomorrow - get a massage - it puts the world in balance.
