Current Mood... None too confident!
I've found a blog that keeps track of MFA application response times. Here is a new level of obsession I'm not sure I want to engage in, but much like a train wreck I don't think I can look away.
Here's the blog but I warn you it's enough to turn your hair white.

I suppose now that I know the response times I'll know when I should really begin to worry. I know my odds are slim having never been published, but I have to hold out some hope that my writing samples and recommendations were impressive enough.
Wish me luck everyone - I feel I need it!
What that tells me Pheobe is you've got tenacity! To pump out novels during lunch hours is impressive, hopefully the day job isn't soul grinding. I worked in technology for many years, put my husband through his ivy league MBA, I'm now saying 'payback time'.
I can relate on all counts. People told me how much FUN they had in various programs and in a way I wish I had gone ahead with it, but then, here I am rushing headlong into my first novel, having completed it on my lunch breaks at work. Not the easist route but hey, I have tons and tons of character now, I guess! :)
I actually just got an envelope from Lesley today! It wasn't a yes or no - just the login to the system to see what stage the application is in. I was a bit nervous opening it, I feel seventeen again waiting for undergrad packets to arrive. I really want the MFA because I want to teach as well as write. Also I want to devote the next two years to really honing my craft.
You should get into one of them--especially since you applied to six places. I got accepted to Lesley U. a few years ago and I don't think I was published at that time--or if I had, it was only ONE publication. I did not end up actually going though--never did get an MFA. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
