Hello all!

I have a question that I have been thinking about for a while and haven't quite found an answer on my own so please give me some advise. I've been thinking about self publishing and was wondering that if I have to promote myself and my book, um how exactly do I do that? Especially when you don't have any connections beyond your friends and family. How would I begin to put myself out there? I know people in my local library and bookstore but thats it, any thoughts?
