I'm a writer with one foot and three toes on Martha's Vineyard and two toes still in New York City. I juggle writing with a day job (career transition coaching) and have worked as everything from a waitress and chambermaid to Partner in a global service firm. Coming from a large family with no discernible food traditions, other than the three squares a day my hardworking mother cranked out (to my endless gratitude), I've become a multi-ethnic home cook given to experimenting on my guests and champion of organic and sustainable food production and lifestyle choices. I sing in the Island Community Chorus and volunteer in several organizations promoting women's issues.

SWP will publish my debut novel in April 2020. Set in the Scottish highlands and the Caribbean island of Nevis, it's about Eleanor "Els" Gordon, a fiery Scot who flees the former for the latter, buys a derelict plantation house and finds she is co-habiting with the ghost (jumbie) of the previous owner. Testily, they cooperate to help the jumbie find his rest and enable Els to unravel the family mystery that has locked her up emotionally all her life. The story grapples with shattering loss, mother-daughter estrangement, belonging and the power of love, reconciliation and forgiveness. I'm at work on a second novel, Posthumous, about a New York City literary power couple with secrets from each other and the world.
